I enjoy conversation. About anything really. A good conversation can do wonders for people.
I love music. I listen to all kinds of music, but mostly industrial and its offshoots. I do however have this medical condition which doesn't allow me to process the enjoyment that some people
can get out of country music and most rap... heh.
I LOVE music. I used to record a lot in my spare time, but now spend most of my time playing video games. My instrument interests are guitar, keyboards and vocals.
I dislike people who dispense judgement like it's going out of style.
I love black, the night and all things dark.
I love stars.
I respect blunt honesty, strong will, kindness and self-sacrifice, because these are the same ideals that I hold dear.
I love philosophy and philosophical debate. (Favorites include Nietzsche, Heidegger, Kant, Plato, Socrates). In debate, I will very often take up the defense of a standpoint from way out in left field just to see if I can, only to abandon that viewpoint in light of the input of the other participant... I find this is the best way to both get to know people, and strengthen one’s ability to articulate points and defend theories. It is my attempt to embody the Nietzschean concept of perspectivism, in order to avoid slipping into the trappings of dogmatism.
On that note, I am not religious, but I believe strongly in the power of the human spirit, and recognize some people's need to believe in a greater power, and won't put them down for it. Philosophy has allowed me certainty of god, just not as most people concieve him.
I recognize the fact that there is a large grey area between the poles of human sexuality, and harbour no ill will towards any of the various shades people might choose to adopt.
I will often go against the established grain in a given situation, whatever that grain may be, even if I agree with the majority, simply to see if I can hold out against so many with the support of so few. I like to think it makes me a stronger person, (although I'm sure some would say it makes me a shit disturbing whiny bitch... :-P)
I work now as a tech for Aliant, fixing business people's internet connections all over the maritimes. It's nice to be able to put my dorky skills to good use propagating the corporate machine that is consuming our beautiful planet one consumer at a time... *sigh* ... but whatever. It's good pay and moderately enjoyable work.
I am happily common-lawed (hehe) and have three feline kids, all of whom I love dearly. I have been quit smoking now for 2 years and know that I will never go back, and even gave up the gonja for some time now. Ashley has quit with me, and mutual reinforcement helps.
Anyways, enough about me. I hope this finds you well whoever / wherever you are...
